"Celebrating mediocrity is our problem" – Aps. Ankra-Badu

Winneba Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Emmanuel Ofei Ankra-Badu has reiterated that celebrating mediocrity has been the major problem for Christians including opinion leaders.

Apostle Ankra-Badu said this at the climax of the 2015 Christmas convention organized by the Abasraba District at Sakora Park in Winneba to an audience of over one thousand (1,000) Christians.

He also stated emphatically that Christmas is all about taking responsibility. Taking his main quotation from Matthew 1:18-23 and making reference to John 3:16, Apostle Ankra-Badu said that God took responsibility by sending his only begotten son to die for Christians.

He also hinted that, Mary and Joseph took responsibility, therefore, one needs to take responsibility before he or she could be celebrated. Throwing more light on this, he said Mary is celebrated by the Catholics because she took the responsibility on herself by accepting the will of God to be accomplished through her.

According to Apostle Ankra-Badu, Jesus wouldn’t have been born if God had refused to take responsibility. Thus, Christians and opinion leaders must avoid being mediocre but rather take bold and big initiative as their responsibility.
Again, he also stressed that “people of character are people of responsibility just because it is their obligation to do it.”

Apostle Ankra-Badu outlined some important things of being responsible required. According to him, responsibility carries a sense of duty, diligence, excellence, perseverance, accountability and finally a sense of initiative.
Going further, he briefly explained all these vital points with bible references and examples.

The four day event which started on Thursday 24th December and ended on Sunday 27th December was held under the theme “Emmanuel; God is with us in Jesus” from Matthew 1:23. The occasion also featured dignitaries like Neeyi Ackon Ayeefi III; paramount chief of Osubonpanyin, Retired Apostle James Smith Gyimah and wife, Apostle Emmanuel Ofei Ankra-Badu and wife and the host Pastor Gabriel Siaw and Wife.

The occasion also saved four souls who are all men and Pastor Gabriel Siaw thanked everybody who made it to the event and invited visitors to join them in their 31st all night service at Winneba main lorry station come Thursday.

Kissiedu optimistic to succeed Romeo as GIJ SRC President

Mr. Alfred Kissiedu

A level 300 journalism student, Mr, Alfred Kissiedu has declared his intention to contest for next year’s Student Representative Council (SRC) presidency.
Speaking in an interview, Mr. Kissiedu reiterated that there are two things that change the world. According to him, ideas change the world and leadership rules the world. Making references to celebrities like Martin Luther King Junior, Nelson Mandela and Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, he said what really inspires him to contest next year’s presidency is a biblical quotation in proverbs and he understanding the fact that leadership rules the world.
“The biblical quotation is what is leading me to contest for SRC presidency and me understanding the fact that leadership rules the world is also inspiring me to contest for SRC presidency to bring my values on board to change the system.” He noted.
He also stated that another factor that motivated him to contest is a quote by Fredrick Douglas who says “once you learn how to read you will forever be free.” This quote by Fredrick Douglas according to Mr. Kissiedu means that so many people do not know how to read. Therefore, once they do not know how to read, they will never be free because there are lots of information kept in books.
Again, he hinted clearly on the fact that information kept in books are converted to knowledge and that is what he is advocating for.
Mr. Kissiedu emphasized that he has come to help and for that matter he is ready to serve and help GIJ progress should he be voted to power next year.
“We are all here on this earth to help and what I am here on this earth to do is to help.”
He pointed out that one major challenge students are facing is inadequate materials for research. According to him, he has being giving out his notes to newcomers and students for free. Also, he stated that he has compiled all his notes with in-depth research on every topic treated and has handed them over to the librarians. This is to enable effectiveness in every student not to struggle with his research work.
Mr. Alfred Kissiedu is so optimistic to succeed Romeo because he thinks his book donation initiative and friendly relationship with people had already won him students’ vote for next year.
