Mr. Alfred Kissiedu |
A
level 300 journalism student, Mr, Alfred Kissiedu has declared his intention to
contest for next year’s Student Representative Council (SRC) presidency.
Speaking
in an interview, Mr. Kissiedu reiterated that there are two things that change
the world. According to him, ideas change the world and leadership rules the
world. Making references to celebrities like Martin Luther King Junior, Nelson
Mandela and Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, he said what really inspires him to
contest next year’s presidency is a biblical quotation in proverbs and he
understanding the fact that leadership rules the world.
“The
biblical quotation is what is leading me to contest for SRC presidency and me
understanding the fact that leadership rules the world is also inspiring me to
contest for SRC presidency to bring my values on board to change the system.”
He noted.
He
also stated that another factor that motivated him to contest is a quote by
Fredrick Douglas who says “once you learn how to read you will forever be
free.” This quote by Fredrick Douglas according to Mr. Kissiedu means that so
many people do not know how to read. Therefore, once they do not know how to
read, they will never be free because there are lots of information kept in
books.
Again,
he hinted clearly on the fact that information kept in books are converted to
knowledge and that is what he is advocating for.
Mr.
Kissiedu emphasized that he has come to help and for that matter he is ready to
serve and help GIJ progress should he be voted to power next year.
“We
are all here on this earth to help and what I am here on this earth to do is to
help.”
He
pointed out that one major challenge students are facing is inadequate
materials for research. According to him, he has being giving out his notes to
newcomers and students for free. Also, he stated that he has compiled all his
notes with in-depth research on every topic treated and has handed them over to
the librarians. This is to enable effectiveness in every student not to
struggle with his research work.
Mr.
Alfred Kissiedu is so optimistic to succeed Romeo because he thinks his book
donation initiative and friendly relationship with people had already won him students’
vote for next year.
