UEW Winneba and Ajumako Campuses hold 22nd Congregation

The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) from Wednesday 22nd November to Saturday 25th November, 2017 hosted the 1st Session of the 22nd Congregation at the Winneba Campus.

The ceremony witnessed the conferment of degrees, diplomas and certificate for 4,882 graduands from eight Faculties solely from Winneba and Ajumako Campuses at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre in Winneba.

The Faculty of Educational Studies had its graduation on Wednesday 22nd November, 2017 where a total of 1,158 graduated. This comprised of 777 bachelor’s degrees, 327 diplomas and 54 certificates.

Thursday 23rd November, 2017 saw the graduation of 1,592 graduands comprising 1,464 bachelor’s degree and 128 diploma awards from the Faculties of Foreign Language Education and Communication, Ghanaian Languages Education and Science Education.  

The Faculty of Social Science Education and the School of Business Education graduated 1,308 graduands on Friday 24th November, 2017. Also, 824 graduands from the Schools of Graduate Studies and Creative Arts received various degrees and diplomas on Saturday 25th November, 2017.

The Chairman of the University Governing Council, Associate Prof. Emmanuel Nicholas Abakah in his address warned graduands to refrain from social vices such as “armed robbery, pen robbery, fraud, rape, vandalism and get-rich-quick syndrome”. He however urged them to lead exemplary lives and exhibit attitudes worthy of emulation.

The Acting Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Prof. Anthony Afful-Broni in his speech encouraged them to be responsible employers or employees and never be aggrieved when called upon to pay taxes invested for their development.

“You are graduating into a real world of opportunities yet there are challenges in the world of work. I urge you to be determined and enthusiastic about becoming even more resourceful and successful in spite of mounting challenges.” He said. 


In attendance were the Minister for Planning, Prof. George Gyan-Baffour, Omanhen of Effutu traditional Area, Neenyi Ghartey VII and his Entourage, Omanhen of Ajumako traditional Area, Okokodurfo Nana Kwamena Hammah Ababio and his Entourage and some University Officials.
